Saturday Crafting and Combat Workshops

This page provides descriptions of the workshops happening as part of our Saturday programming. There are separate pages describing our main programme and evening entertainment.

We have five workshops this year covering both crafting and combat.

Booking and Payment Instructions

All workshop places will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Places can be reserved pre-con by emailing Admin@TitanCon.com. Please specify the session(s) and time slots you are interested in. The more flexible you are on timing, the better chance we can fit you in! If you are applying for the Combat Workshop, please state the number of people in your group and the weapon you are interested in.

When you apply pre-con, you will receive a response by email within 24 hours confirming your provisional place and instructions for paying by PayPal.

Any workshop places that are not pre-sold will be available for sign-up at the convention Registration/Info desk which will be located at the Coffee Bar on the first floor. You will need to pay at the time of sign-up, either in cash or by PayPal.

Historical Fencing NI Combat Workshop

Medieval Combat Group

Host: Historical Fencing NI (Ross Bailey and team)
Time: 9.00 a.m., 10.00 a.m., 12 Noon, 1.00 p.m., 3.00 p.m., 4.00 p.m.
Room: Syndicates 1 and 2
Tickets: £15

This year Historical Fencing NI are offering “one on one”, individual training, as well as sessions for up to three people, in Longsword, Messer, Sickle, and Rondel Dagger close-quarter combat technique. Sessions will last 45/50 mins each, with questions and ideas very welcome. Both cost £15 and can be signed up for before con to secure your places.

Modern protective equipment will be supplied where necessary.

Ross and his team will have a desk and display outside Syndicates 1 and 2 throughout Saturday so do feel free to drop by and talk to him if you have any questions.

Tickets for the Historical Fencing NI Combat Workshops cost £15 per session. You can ask for a one-on-one session or a group session for up to three people. The price is per session regardless of the number of participants. There are six sessions available in total. See booking and payment instructions.

Samwell's Diary Workshop

Host: Emma Andrews
Time: 11.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m.

Emma Andrews will again be running her popular crafting workshop from 2016, Samwell's Diary. Attendees can make their own leather bound diary complete with bound pages ready for recording notes, stories or anything you wish. All tools and materials will be provided for you including fabrics, leather, fake fur and real horse hair from Emma's own horses. Emma will be on hand to assist and talk you through the process, all you need is your imagination!

Tickets for the Samwell's Diary Crafting Workshop cost £10 each. There are 10 spaces available for each of the two sessions. See booking and payment instructions.

Jewellery Workshop with Chloe Henderson

Always wanted to make yourself a wearable third eye? A mermaid, dragon, or faery watching the world from around your neck? This is the workshop for you! Come along to discover all the step by step techniques needed to create a unique, unusual work of art. You'll come away with your very own hand-painted eye pendant, complete with its own little box, and instructions for making lots of your own eyes at home!! This workshop is suited to all skill levels, and is a taught class for ages 12+

Life Drawing at TitanCon

Host: Jane Stewart
Time: 11.00 a.m.
Room: Syndicates 7 and 8 (Art Show)

Ever wanted to have a go at drawing people? Or maybe just fancy a relaxing hour in the Art Show practicing your drawing skills? Jane Stewart, our Art Show Director, will be offering an opportunity to do just that, with the help of a few members of Brutal Ballet, who have offered to model for us in costume.

This will be an informal workshop in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. No previous experience is necessary and all materials are provided. You will be able to take away your drawings at the end. The workshop will take about an hour.

Participation in the Life Drawing class is free. There are 8 spaces available. See booking and payment instructions.

Build-a-Beard Workshop

Host: Pebble
Time: 1.00 p.m.
Room: Syndicate 6

This workshop is for anyone that wants to enter our Lovely Beard Contest taking place at 8.00 pm on Saturday evening, but either can't or doesn't want to, grow their own facial furniture. We will have plenty of artificial beards in a range of colours available for decorating with many exciting and sparkly things.

The decorations and colouring products may also be used by those with natural beards if you wish. TitanCon accepts no responsibility for any lasting effects on your beard. Should you use any of the enhancement products provided on your own beard then you do so at your own risk.

No tickets required for the Build-a-Beard Workshop, just turn up and join in the fun!
